The Cambrian Way is a route through the very heart of Wales, encompassing two National Parks – the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. The 185-mile route is a complete north / south journey from coast to coast along the stunning scenery of the mountainous spine of Wales. We provide details of cultural and heritage stops as well as activity suggestions. If you like activity adventures - there are options galore!

The 5- or 7-night journey will take you through the very heart of Wales, highlighting the national parks, heritage and adventure along the way. Visit castles, craft centres, museums and waterfalls framed by breath-taking and awe-inspiring countryside. For those interested in star gazing – the route boasts several opportunities to visit two Dark Sky Reserves: at the National Parks as well as the Dark Sky Park and a Dark Sky discovery site.

This 'Wales Way: Cambrian Way' themed campervan or motorhome road trip tour guide includes:-

THE CAMBRIAN WAY

Cardiff, Wales’ capital city is a cultural centre with attractions and shopping.  Uncover interesting worlds of Wales and its industry at the attractions. For culture, visit a 19th century mansion housing an interesting collection of exhibits, replicas and fashion.

In the area, you can explore several beautiful waterfalls on the fringes of the Brecon Beacons National Park - at your own pace - for breath taking walking, horse rides and pony trekking. There are a handful of walking routes from around 4 to 11 miles. For those preferring to see the countryside from a carriage – how about a ride on a steam locomotive?

As one might expect, there are several opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the countryside along this route: including valleys and even a string of reservoirs to enjoy outdoor pursuits such as walking or mountain biking. There are several routes including a 9.5 trail along a disused railway track.

There are ample options at a handful of centres across the Cambrian Way to pump up the adrenaline. There’s rock climbing, bouldering, rope bridges, caving and abseiling, quad biking, assault course, archery, laser shooting, clay pigeon shooting, gorge walking, camp craft, raft building. On the water, there are options for canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing at a water park, sea or don’t miss to visit the world’s first inland surfing lagoon to take a ride on the 400m long lagoon or watch others enjoying the consistently big waves!

Along your tour route you can stop and browse at pretty market towns with craft centres, the Welsh Royal Crystal workshop, a woollen mill and shops. For the eco minded – make a stop at the Centre of Alternative Technology. Discover more about Welsh literature and the National Eisteddfod with a visit to the farmstead of a celebrated Welsh poet.

The tour concludes with the highlights of the north coastal and a Victorian sea-side resort along the coast offering lovely bays, walks along the coast or pier and fantastic viewpoints. Plus World Heritage town, with medieval castle and narrow streets with historic buildings.

If you are enjoying a longer tour - stay another day / night in the area and add on an adventure activity or enjoy a Brecon Beacons Walk.  Or you may opt for a day or two of stopping off to enjoy what is on offer – after all you can decide – it’s your journey to discover.
